Coucou from the cook...

If you've been following me on Instagram for a while you may know a bit about who The Cook Wears Coco might be. She started out as an idea, but then I realized she existed. So who is she? The cook who wears coco is a home cook reimagined for the modern day. In her mind, French Vogue and The French Laundry Cookbook are both important reads. She's a home cook who loves to wear a little black dress in the kitchen and makes a mean crêpe de Bretagne while doing it. She speaks multiple languages and knows the history of Macaroni la Reine. A city girl but a Georgia peach at heart who still has her hospitable sensibilities. She's a worldly individual, a lover of the fast-paced, but also finds solace in a small garden of herbs. Food-meets-fashion editorials intrigue her, and she enjoys reading through a YSL memoir while snacking on canapes. She believes champagne is best enjoyed on a sunny, mundane weekday. A hedonist. She takes great pleasure in the simple things in life — good food and beautiful clothes. As the late André Leon Talley once said,"There are only two things in life that can really please you - food and fashion". His words are her hallmark. She's me and maybe she's also you...
I created this blog for like-minded individuals who love fashion almost as much as they love to eat and cook. Maybe you love planning just the right outfit for a visit to a beautiful new restaurant in your city as much as I do. Perhaps you believe the height of fashion was when Phoebe Philo was still at Celine and that every self-proclaimed "foodie" should know how to make a good pasta sauce from scratch. So I ask you... Do you love putting on chic dinner parties? Are you a little obsessed with dining culture? Does an old Naomi Campbell editorial excite you just as much as a restaurant-quality burger? It's the quality of the beef that makes or breaks it...and the chew of a bun with buttery, crisp edges. As satisfying as cashmere. And do you absolutely love a perfect French omelette the way you love a classic pair of Manolo Blahnik BB pumps? (The black suede ones are my personal favorite). If you answered yes to any or all of the above questions well then, my dear, welcome to my little corner of the internet. I consider you a long-lost friend and I ask...where have you been all my life?
Now that you're here I hope you'll stay a while. On this blog ( I detest that word btw, sounds so trite and vanilla yeah?...although I have an obsession with the flavor Vanilla but more on that in another post ) I'll be posting dishes that remind me of fashion, fashion images that remind me of food and all the recipes you can stand. I may throw in entertaining tips here and there, guidance on how to curate a good dîner de fête for good measure. I'm aiming for The Cook Wears Coco to be the antidote to the oversaturation of "every other food blogger" out there and the noise of IG reels. I will do everything within my power to stay authentic - classic, curated, fashion-forward, and non-annoying :)
Stay tuned for all that is to come and I bid you a Bon Appetit in advance...
Until next post,
Britt
